Roland Martin Moves to Empowerment Radio Network

Award-winning journalist and host of News One Now Roland Martin has announced a new partnership between his media company Nu Vision Media and Empowerment Radio Network to launch a new syndicated daily radio show. Covering pop-culture, entertainment, breaking news and political topics of the day, “The Roland Martin Show” debuted Monday, January 19 in 20 markets across the nation.

The new radio syndication deal represents both a day part change and expansion for Martin on the radio platform, while it comes on the heels of a recent announcement by TV One that Martin’s NewsOne Now – the first morning news program in history to focus on news and analysis of politics, entertainment, sports, and culture from an explicitly African American perspective – has finished as the number one cable news show in 2014 in its time slot among all African American viewer. Including broadcast television, NewsOne Now’s performance among Black viewers in the aforementioned demos was second only to NBC’s Today.

“The Empowerment Radio Network is excited to add Roland Martin to its midday line up Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET,” says David Anderson, Founder of Empowerment Radio Network. “Roland Martin is the most significant voice in America for Black issues and he will now be distributed on the only 100% wholly-owned black talk radio network in America… Empowerment Radio Network.”

“Radio is a tremendously powerful medium. It allows me to get up close and personal with the audience, and to hear what is happening on the ground around the country,” says Martin. “I am excited to own my show, and to grow it in partnership with David. It’s time to #bringthefunk!”
