Ricardo “El Mandril” Sanchez returned to Los Angeles radio today with his sights set on a new syndicated radio deal. A new agreement with Mexican radio giant Grupo Radio Centro has put him on L.A.’s KXOS, which flipped from Spanish contemporary to regional Mexican as “Radio Centro 93.9. The Spanish-language morning man made headlines last year by shooting to the top of the L.A. ratings, until he was pulled off the air by Spanish Broadcasting System. The new “El Show del Mandril” will continue through self-syndication on the 39 affiliates that were already carrying it in markets like San Diego, Bakersfield, Fresno, Denver and Dallas. Sanchez’s manager, Fernando Schiantarelli, says he expects to expand “El Madril’s reach to 100 stations, including as many as 40 stations south of the border. Schiantarelli says he is in negotiations “with a couple of big syndicators” about a U.S. network deal.
