After a year away from the town they called home for 15 years United Stations Radio Network has announced that the syndicated radio Lex & Terry Morning Show will return to the airwaves in Jacksonville, FL beginning October 15. The show will be heard weekday mornings from 6-10am on WSOS-FM (Classic Rock 94.1). This is the third time around in Jacksonville for the duo who have been in and out of Jacksonville for over 15 years.
The Lex & Terry show started at what was then WFYV-FM, Rock 105 in Jacksonville in 1992. Staley was the station’s program director, and Jaymes was an actor and standup comedian. The show was nationally syndicated in 1997 when the duo moved to a Dallas radio station to build their syndicated radio network. Within two years they returned to Jacksonville after the Dallas station changed formats. After almost 13 years dominating the Jacksonville market among young male adults, the pair went off the air locally when Rock 105 went to an all-music format in 2005. Staley and Jaymes moved to Planet Radio (107.3 FM) until its demise in August 2010. The syndicated radio program moved to Jacksonville sports radio station WJXL (1010 AM) until a year ago.
GM Bill Reese said, “We’re extremely excited to bring Lex and Terry back to Jacksonville. With their 15 years of heritage in the market they will be a tremendous fit to Jacksonville’s only true Classic Rock station.”
Lex Staley commented, “What an honor it is to be back on in Freakville at Classic Rock 94.1 WSOS. I know there are a lot of people ready for it and so are we. We can’t wait.” Terry Jaymes added, “We’re back, just like a bad cold! And I’m really excited to be back. WSOS is letting us do it the Lex and Terry way.”
USRN added that Lex & Terry will also now be heard in the Chicago area and Yakima, WA, joining the lineups at WYKT-FM (The Cat 105.5) Kankakee, IL and KLKY (U Rock Radio 96.1) near Yakima.
