Rickey Smiley Snags Summer Job on FOX TV’s “Dish Nation”

Syndication One’s syndicated radio morning wakeup show The Rickey Smiley Morning Show will be one of four shows from top radio stations across the country to star in Dish Nation, a new Fox TV series airing in selected markets this summer. The entertainment magazine show will also feature Hot AC WPLJ New York’s Scott Shannon & Todd Pettengill;  Hot AC WDVD Detroit’s Blaine & Allyson and Rhythmic CHR KPWR (Power 106) Los Angeles’ DJ Felli Fel.

Dish Nation, billed as a entertainment news program featuring a fast-paced, unscripted take on pop culture, celebrity scandals and salacious, headline-grabbing conversations,” debuts July 25 for a six-week test run and will air on Fox stations in seven markets: New York; Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta; Phoenix; Detroit and Baltimore.

“One of the biggest challenges in syndication is promotion and breaking out in an increasingly cluttered television marketplace. Dish Nation offers a unique ability to cross promote on some of the most popular morning drive-time shows,” said Stephen Brown, Twentieth Television SVP of Development in a statement. “Every few years the entertainment news genre reinvents itself. The last time was TMZ. Dish Nation is the next step in the evolution of programs that offer funny, fresh commentary on pop culture.”
