Where Is the New Talk Radio Talent?

Is there no new Talk Radio talent with the potential to be syndicated nationally? Or is it a lack of a support structure for talented talkers looking to rise into the pantheon of syndicated radio giants? Paul Bond’s article in today’s (Oct 14th) The Hollywood Reporter digs into the rise of Talk Radio while addressing the scramble for new talk talent to replace the likes of Dr. Laura Schlessinger and possibly Howard Stern at the end of the year. Whether you agree with Bond that stars like Russ Limbaugh are “heading into semi-retirement” or that the well is dry (the article does mention young guns like Adam Carolla, Andrew Breitbart and and Pete Dominick-of Rick Sanchez fame-as the next wave), there’s good food for thought here…yours?

I am very interested in this article, as we at the Bold Republic Show are a couple of the “Rising Stars”

Great question. The big hosts will eventually hit a peak-who´s next?

Have you listened to Bill Martinez Live? Bill’s on 220+ markets with CRN plus 10 terrestrial stations in big markets like KBXD Dallas, TX (50,000 Watts), San Diego WYLL & WIND, (in Chicago IL), on in Cleveland, Boston, Denver. Orlando and Atlanta, He lands big guests whom he interviews in depth and is extremely personable in a talk show world full of ego maniacs. He is also of a seemingly rare breed-a patriotic Mexican American who earned his stripes in the US Marines and who was taught to adapt to America. He is quietly adding stations and is a guy to watch. His funny quips such as “Hoy por Mi-mañana por Ti” or “El que no llora no mama”, ; and his show love of music bring a synergy that make him into a new source of great radio talk radio. I can listen M-F 9-11 AM Eastern. See his site to listen:

Syndicators should check out the newest and best distribution platform for your shows. It’s Synchronicity.co (no “m”)

There *was* a show in Orlando called SBKLive on WTKS that was consistently rated #1 in it’s time slot. It was a great show, frankly it was why I started listening to talk radio in the first place. If any show ever deserved national syndication, it was that one. But, Clear Channel decided to cut costs and SBKLive was one of the casualties. If you are curious, they created podcasts of most (maybe all) of their episodes on iTunes. Give it a listen!

Check out 2 time Talkers magazine Frontier 50 winner The Dr. Rock Show. It’s a hilarious alternative to Dr. Laura/Dr. Phil types, killer original comedy, racy without being mean spirited, unlike anything else out there. http://www.drrockshow.com

    Wow. Let’s pimp ourselves here…

There is more available talent then ever. It is up to syndicators to take a business risk.
