It seems like only yesterday that Vic Thomas was named as VP of Operations for Earthworks Entertainment’s Hit Parade Radio. Actually it was two weeks ago and now the four month old oldies network that featured personalities Larry Lujack and Wink Martindale has gone dark due to financial difficulties. A major part of the money problems was the loss of funding sources including Harris Broadcasting which decided not to move forward with the project. Thomas, in a letter to affiliates announcing the syndicated radio networks demise said, “Call it the bad economy, the current state of the broadcasting industry, or just bad timing…We gave it our best shot.”
Hit Parade Radio format creator John Rook is expected to move the format online.
