Clancy Woods, president of Sporting News Radio, along with several investors of Houston based Gow Communications (KGOW 1560 The Game) have formed Mission Media Group. The new company was created to distribute content under the Sporting News Radio name through an agreement with American City Business Journals. The core business of the new company will be the creation and development of sports content, capitalizing on integration across both existing and emerging distribution technologies. The agreement with ACBJ calls for Mission Media Group to produce and distribute The Troy Aikman Show and The Tim Brando Show on behalf of Sporting News/ACBJ, while all other syndicated radio content will be owned by Mission Media. In addition to these programs, Mission has an active pipeline of content currently in development, all of which are being developed for full integration with the local programming initiatives of its affiliate partners.
“Our partners are remarkably successful people who share my view that sports content is a unique and vital part of the entertainment experience. As a group, they will be a dynamic resource for the company as we pursue our various growth initiatives,” said Woods.
David Gow will become chairman of the new company and will move the network’s operations center to Houston.
