In an unusual move Citadel Media put the Joe Scarborough syndicated radio show on an immediate hiatus while announcing development plans for a new three-hour program to be hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski . Since the end of 2008 Scarborough and Brzezinski have been the hosts of a two-hour 10 a.m. to noon radio show for Citadel. The new show will increase to three hours and offer an expanded radio platform for the two popular media personalities.
“We look forward to Joe and Mika developing this new program, which we are confident will have a significant impact on Talk radio,” said Farid Suleman, Chairman of Citadel Broadcasting.
Scarborough noting that Suleman will be working with them on the expansion of the show said; “We look forward to the debut of the new show and know our listeners will appreciate the focus and direction we’ll be taking.”
The current Joe Scarborough Show was essentially a radio version of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, offering the same guests and commentary daily to syndicated radio audiences. The new program will be designed to provide additional opportunities and increased time for guests and audience interaction.
During the hiatus, listeners will still be able to hear Joe and Mika on the recently added Sirus XM MSNBC channel.
