Tom Leykis Back, Forms Syndication Company

Ex-CBS Radio host and Westwood One syndicated radio talent Tom Leykis makes his return next week on Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters KGIL-FM Los Angeles. Leykis was among the talk personality casualties who lost their jobs when KLSX 97.1 FM Los Angeles switched to the Top 40 AMP format in February 2009.

Leykis’ syndicated radio show “The Tasting Room,” which was dropped by Westwood One and is described by Leykis as a “lifestyle-themed program for men with a taste for the finer things life, from fine wine, high-end spirits and craft brews to first-rate dining and premium cigars,” is also the first offering from Lekis’ new radio syndication company called “The New Normal”.

“When I left CBS, we also severed the relationship with my syndication group Westwood One,” Leykis said in an interview. “But my producer and I kept the stations we had and continued to feed them new shows on our own. The idea was we would do this until we figured out a business plan and what we wanted to do,” he said.

Leykis said the new company will be platform agnostic, approaching content development from the inside out by developing programming for new media platforms (podcasting, streaming etc.) that could be adapted for radio versus the other way around. “Instead of being a big monster that syndicates 160 different products, we will do some hand-picked projects that I believe in and use a small team of people to work on affiliate relations and ad sales,” Leykis said.

The best way to connect with Tom Leykis is via his website http://www.blowmeuptom.com – he is on Twitter, Facebook and find his streams via the excellent TuneIn App on your Smartphones.

Any chance of Tom Leykis returning to radio in Hawaii. I used to time my comute to hear his show. It was fun when people tried to argue with him and eventually they inevitably agree with him by the end of the conversation. His advice was real and good for guys and important to pay attention to his views for women as well. I miss having someone say it like it is. Now all we have in Hawaii is boring blah blah blah radio – please come back to Hawaii Tom Leykis!

You people do realise that this isn’t Tom Leykis’ website, he didn’t write the above article and you look really silly when you try to address him through the comments, right?

TOM: I just want you doing politics.
It was funny during the last presidential election how many LA listeners were surprised you could handle a “real” topic. Of course that is what you did for years and you do have a twist, perhaps too kind a word, to your views on the political landscape. Current policy both federal and state is a burning desire for even the most unaware today, since we have been taken over by The Communist Party. The New Norm/What kind of projects? You have hinted at something larger in the works, since you can not tell what, how about when? I always unwrapped Christmas presents and re wrapped them; so take it off dude!

hey tom. love the idea, while that plan is going on. i want to propose you an idea of adding popular and internet-fringe host Alex Jones. He can get you the right mix the business solution you seek. An revolutionary mix of radio platform and internet with chance of growth, big markets and metropolitan areas like Los Angeles that could pick it up for syndication at the local levels as opposed to internet only.

    operated by the Gcn network.
