Sharpton Added to the R&R Talk Panel

Radio & Records has just announced that Syndication One talk host and activist Rev. Al Sharpton will be part of a round table panel at the 2008 R&R Talk Radio Seminar. Sharpton will provide his take on Election 08 and all issues surrounding it on a “Reverse Debate” session, where the roles are reversed in a presidential-style debate that will be moderated by ABC News’ George Stephanopoulous.

Sharpton will share the stage with Westwood One’s Jim Bohannon, Talk Radio Network’s Rusty Humphries, Lincoln Financial talk WBT/Charlotte host Jeff Katz, Talk Radio Network’s Mancow and Jones Radio Networks’ Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz. Whether you agree with Sharpton’s views or tactics, there is a need and thank goodness a place for a voice such as his in the marketplace. I love the fact that he refuses to be marginalized and is a part of what is a pretty influential gathering at the Talk Radio Seminar. I’ve got to believe there will be more talent added to this particular line-up because other than Rusty Humphries and maybe Jim Bohannon, I don’t see a conservative host in the lot. By the way, is it me or is it a coincidence that this announcement was made on Martin Luther King’s birthday? (note: The dream has been deferred for many but it is still alive…Thank you Dr. King)

R & R is going to render itself less relevant in the radio industry if it does not fix this situation, including a possible shakeup in irs leadership ranks.

Is it me or is it a coincidence the Sharpton announcement came on the heels of R&R recinding Bob Grant’s Lifetime Achievement Award?
