Warren Ballentine Loses an Hour in Atlanta

Syndication One talker Warren Ballentine lost a portion of his 3 hour syndicated radio show in Atlanta this week when CBS Radio WAOK (1380 AM) dropped the first hour of his daily show to make room for Westwood One’s Gayle King Show . The loss of the 10A-11A hour is a setback for Ballentine who fought to get back into the Atlanta market after Radio One Urban AC WAMJ-FM dropped both Ballentine and Al Sharpton from their line-up back in January 2009.

Syndication One morning talent and comedian Rickey Smiley can finally be heard in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. Five years after starting his radio career, Smiley’s syndicated radio show made its Birmingham debut Monday on Cox Radio’s new WENN 101.9 FM, which calls itself  “Birmingham’s Neo Soul Station.”

Syndication One announced today that the Rickey Smiley Morning Show,  has been added to Cumulus Urban’s WEAS E93 FM in Savannah, GA, WMNX 97.3 FM in Wilmington, NC and WYNN 106.3 FM in Florence, SC effective today.

Syndication One has tapped Yolanda Starks-White as Executive Director of Multi-Media Marketing. In her new role she will be responsible for creating signature events for the various Syndication One brands as well as assisting with custom affiliate events for the company.  Those brands include The Yolanda Adams Morning Show, The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, CoCo Brother Live, Bishop T.D. Syndication One’s Yolanda Adams morning show has announced new affiliates in two major markets. The syndicated radio morning show is set to begin airing on KHVN Dallas and in San Diego on KURS-AM. The additions give the Yolanda Adams morning show clearance in over 40 markets, including six out of the top 10 and 14 out of the top 20 African American markets including  New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Houston, Raleigh, Memphis and Norfolk.

She’s spent the last six years as director of syndicated radio operations for Reach, working with The Tom Joyner Morning Show. Syndication One’s  Rickey Smiley Morning Show has been added to Clear Channel’s WJIZ-FM Albany, Georgia and WFBA-FM  in Columbus, Georgia. The show replaces Citadel Media’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood on both radio stations leading to speculation regarding the future of Big Boy in national syndication. Smiley was also recently added to Pittman Broadcasting’s KYMK in Lafayette, Louisiana bringing the syndicated morning show to 30 affiliates.

CBS Radio WAOK-AM debuts the return of  syndicated radio talkers Al Sharpton and Warren Ballentine to the Atlanta market beginning Wednesday (4/29).
