Comedian Sheryl Underwood , known as one of the most highly educated and brilliant stand up comics in the business has abruptly ended her run as a featured player on the Reach Media syndicated radio Tom Joyner Morning Show and has joined the Premiere Radio Network morning offering the Steve Harvey Morning Show.

Reach Media’s nationally syndicated radio Tom Joyner Morning Show planned to broadcast live from earthquake-stricken Haiti today but only made it as far as Miami. Joyner told his listeners Friday morning that he got as far as Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, but was unable to get to Port-au-Prince in time to do his show which airs from 5 a.m.-9 a.m. CST. Rodney Ho of the Atlanta Constitution Journal is reporting that Reach Media syndicated radio morning legend Tom Joyner has signed a deal to remain on Atlanta’s WALR Kiss 104.1 for the next two years. The exact length of the agreement wasn’t revealed but Joyner, who joined the station in 1995 will continue through 2011.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Reach Media has filed a suit against Clear Channel over WVAZ cancellation of the Tom Joyner Morning Show and replacing it with the Steve Harvey Morning Show back in March. The suit filed by Reach in Texas’ Dallas County District Court, alleges breach of contract by Clear Channel and claims that because the show was dropped without notice, Reach is owed more than $800,000 in affiliation fees and net advertising revenue lost from May until the end of this year. Syndication One, a joint venture between Radio One and Reach Media, names Tanita Myers director of operations. She’s spent the last six years as director of syndicated radio operations for Reach, working with The Tom Joyner Morning Show. Myers will oversee operations for The Yolanda Adams Morning Show, The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, CoCo Brother Live, TD Jakes’ “Empowering Moments,” The Al Sharpton and Warren Ballentine talk programs, and other shows. At least for the moment, the WSRB Chicago decision to pick up Reach Media’s Tom Joyner Morning Show is reaping big benefits. Weekly PPM data says that in his first full week on the station Tom has tripled the 25-54 numbers taking them from 0.8 to 2.4.
