Syndication One syndicated radio host Rickey Smiley may have defamed an airport security guard by calling him gay on his show, a federal judge has ruled. U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor refused to dismiss the guard’s defamation claims against the Dallas radio personality reports Courthouse News Service. He claims Smiley made the remark at the airport, and again on the air, after the guard asked to take a photo of himself with Smiley at Love Field.

According to Urban Radio Nation The Michael Baisden Show has found a new home in Detroit showing up on Radio One urban AC WDMK Kiss 105.9 . The syndicated radio show was dropped from Clear Channel’s WMXD Mix 92.3 in September to make room for local personality Frankie Darcell.

The shows which had been dropped from Radio One Urban AC WAMJ-FM in a series of frequency moves and format flips that left them without a home in the nations 9th largest radio market, will debut Wednesday April 29th on WAOK-AM. After less than a year, the Mo’Nique Show has been cancelled by Syndication One. Details are still coming in but the handwriting was on the wall when after a much heralded debut on KDAY Los Angeles, the show was removed after just four months due to a format shift. The same senario happened in Philadelphia in January leaving the show with less than seven affiliates. *UPDATE* Arbitron’s Portable People Meter methodology is the villain in a petition put together by the Atlanta listeners of Warren Ballentine and Al Sharpton who have been cut at WAMJ-FM. The petition charges that the number of participants in the PPM panel was not representative of the target audience of the two shows and led to the decision to drop the hosts. Buried in the middle of a simple format adjustment story out of  Philadelphia is the news that Syndication One afternoon talent Mo’Nique has been cancelled.  Radio One owned WRNB announced a shift from the traditional Urban AC format to one that focuses on the “R&B of the 90′s and Today” while installing market veteran Lady B as the afternoon talent replacing the syndicated Mo’Nique.
