Former ABC Radio Networks President Jim Robinson has opened an office in Dallas for the talent agency Schrutt & Katz. The move reunites Robinson with Norm Schrutt, who formerly served as President of the ABC-owned radio group. Robinson spent more than 20 years at ABC Radio, heading up the ABC Radio Networks and before that President of ABC Radio in Washington, DC.

More major changes at Citadel Media, Radio Ink is reporting that Jim Robinson has exited as president and is replaced by Citadel Interactive SVP John Rosso.  Rosso spent a dozen years with ABC Radio Networks, starting as general manager of operations in 1995, and holding various operations, affiliate relations and digital media positions. It has not been a good week for the city of Chicago, first dealing with the aftermath of the tragic beating of a high school student, then learning that the city will not host the 2016 Olympics. Now comes word that one of it’s favorite sons will soon be out of radio syndication. The announcement comes as ABC Radio Networks begins to re brand itself to advertisers and audiences across all media platforms as Citadel Media. It’s an historic move for the company which despite several owners over the years including Disney and Cap Cities, had retained the ABC moniker. This marks the first time since 1927 that the name ABC has not been associated with network radio. However the names of the brands the company represents which include the ABC radio properties and ESPN will not be affected.

ABC Radio Networks will be feeding Mike Huckabee’s “The Huckabee Report” in the time slots formerly filled by the late Paul Harvey’s features beginning Monday 3/23. Huckabee’s segments are shorter than the standard Harvey time slot so ABC will be offering additional short-form news features which will be announced soon.

Don Imus the 68-year old ABC Radio Networks WABC New York based talk host announced on his show this morning that he has stage two prostate cancer. The I-Man offered no indication on his prognosis, saying only he is confident his doctors will beat the disease.

ABC Radio Networks and Radiolicious have signed a multi-year sales and marketing agreement under which ABCRN will support affiliation efforts for Radiolicious’ platform for streaming over smartphones. The network will reach out to targeted stations, and will sell station inventory to be used on stations’ Radiolicious links and on the air.

Legendary broadcaster and longtime ABC Radio Network personality Paul Harvey died Saturday at the age of 90. This story has ties to syndication because some of the talk involves simulcasting Urban/Talk hybrid WAMJ (102.5).
