Oscar winners Javier Bardem, Ron Howard and Helen Mirren were named recipients of stars in the motion picture category, as were Viola Davis, James Franco and veteran movie-makeup artist Rick Baker.
In the television category, the 2013 honorees will be Simon Baker, Bryan Cranston, Ellen DeGeneres, Jane Lynch, Katey Sagal and Matthew Perry.
For recording artists, the honorees are The Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Hudson, Jane’s Addiction, New Kids on the Block, Usher and Thalia. Janis Joplin and Luther Vandross will be honored posthumously. Olympia Dukakis and the comedy/magic team of Penn & Teller will be honored in the live theater/performance category.
“The Walk of Fame committee is proud to announce next year’s honorees whose additions to the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame will bring everlasting memories of their star power, talent and popularity to the millions who visit Hollywood each year and which will shine even more light on the entertainment capital of the world,” said David Green, chairman of the selection committee. The recipients were chosen from among hundreds of nominations submitted to the committee. The final list was approved by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors.
