Stephen A. Smith Close to New ESPN Radio Deal

When you’re Stephen A. Smith what goes around comes around. According to a New York Daily News report the former “Quite Frankly” host and 1050 ESPN radio talker, is on the verge of signing a new deal that would return him to the New York radio outlet. The News quotes a source as saying, “This is the first step to Stephen A getting back in the ESPN family, which means he’ll will also be doing television at some point.” Smith’s most recent gig was a Fox Sports Radio morning show which ended in December. *UPDATE* It’s official Stephen A. Smith is back in the ESPN fold. In addition to hosting the 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm ET program on WEPN, New York and the 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm PT program on KSPN, Los Angeles, his new duties will include writing for ESPN.com and the company’s locally focused ESPN websites in New York and L.A.  On his new deal with ESPN, Smith says, “Words cannot express how excited I am to return to ESPN. The five-plus years I spent here in my previous stint were unquestionably the best years of my professional career. To have the opportunity to return to a place where I have an abundance of friends — with individuals whose contributions to my life, both professionally and personally, deserve far more credit than I can describe — simply makes my return that much more special. I’m sincerely grateful and very, very ready. As in right now. Let’s go!”
