Westwood One has announced that gossip blogger Perez Hilton is set to launch a weekly countdown radio show as an alternative to Premiere Radio Network’s Ryan Seacrest.  Hilton’s new radio program promises a “cooler alternative” to “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest,” which has been airing since 2004.

According to Billboard.com, Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, will countdown the top 40 with his own hand picked set list.

A regular fixture with A-listers in Hollywood and the music industry, Hilton will use his rapport to add some sass to on-air interviews. Hilton explained that he wants to “book great talent … I want to talk in depth with Lady Gaga and Katy Perry and all of these acts whom I have relationships with. I want to ask them the questions that Ryan Seacrest would not ask them. I can make fun of someone,” Hilton said, “and still be a fan.”

Hilton’s new syndicated radio show will join the blogger’s nationally syndicated radio show, Radio Perez, on the Westwood roster.
