It has not been a good week for the city of Chicago, first dealing with the aftermath of the tragic beating of a high school student, then learning that the city will not host the 2016 Olympics. Now comes word that one of it’s favorite sons will soon be out of radio syndication. Citadel Media has notified it’s affiliates of the cancellation of syndicated radio personality Doug Banks‘ nationally syndicated radio show “Afternoons with Doug and De De” effective December 31. Banks has been with the network-formerly the ABC Radio Network-as a syndicated radio host since the mid 90′s, first as a morning personality, and with his latest afternoon show which debuted in January, 2008. Banks was an institution at Chicago’s WGCI-FM hosting mornings and afternoon drive before leaving in 1995 for ABC Radio Networks. Co-host DeDe McGuire has been part of that show since 1997. McGuire recently joined the morning show on KKDA K104 Dallas doing double duty along with Banks’ syndicated radio show in the afternoon fueling questions about the future of the show.
