*UPDATE* (The president appeared on Michael Smerconish’s Dial Global syndicated radio show on Thursday and spoke to Democratic supporters, focusing primarily on his health reform effort.)  Dial Global and CBS Radio syndicated radio host  Michael Smerconish has been invited by President Obama to broadcast his nationally-syndicated radio show from the White House Thursday afternoon (8/20), a first for radio during the Obama administration. Smerconish tweeted a tease to his listeners regarding the invitation this morning prior to making the announcement on his show. As can be expected, health care reform will be a major topic of discussion on the show which will include listener call-ins. “There are no ground rules. I am not pre-screening with the White House on what the subject matter will be.” Smerconish said in a statement announcing the show. Amy Bolton, senior vice president and general manager of news and talk for Dial-Global, which syndicates the show in partnership with CBS Radio said, “He’s the only talk host in America to do the show from the White House, He’s the first and so far the only one.”  A twenty minute live, one on one interview with President Barack Obama, will air at 1:10pm eastern. The syndicated radio host launched his nationally syndicated afternoon show in February 2009 that airs on 50 radio stations across the country, including WOR-AM in New York, KFWB Los Angeles and WHFS 1580 AM in Washington, D.C.
