20 July 2009 314 views No Comment

Remember Apple’s G4 Cube? DVD Audio? Sony Dreamcast? You might have  forgotten some of these highly touted product launches or maybe made a few bucks on one at a yard sale last weekend. Either way they all live on in infamy as one of CNET’s 25 biggest Tech Flops of the Decade. The bad news for radio is that Satellite Radio and HD radio are also on the list. The article sites Satellite radio’s biggest negative is the cost, while on the opposite end of the spectrum “free” HD radio’s problem has been poor marketing and the lack of receivers in the marketplace. Encouraging news for HD radio is the recent release of new affordable receivers that’s giving some hope for HD in the future.
