21 April 2009 800 views One Comment

Tom Joyner returns to the Chicago airwaves on Crawford Broadcasting’s WSRB  April 22nd- and he literally had to pay his way. In what he is calling a “brokered deal” by Reach Media, Joyner resumes his nationally syndicated radio show  in Chicago Wednesday morning. In a statement to his listeners Joyner said:  “Thank you Chicago and all our friends and family from all over the country.” “You have written, you have tweeted and your activism has made a difference in a big way. We are going back on the air and if I could hug and thank each and every one of you individually, I would. Our new home in Chicago is SOUL 106.3 FM.” Crawford Broadcasting General Manager Taft Harris said, “Tom is a cornerstone and a true light for the people in Chicago, which is very much in line with our goals and commitment from WSRB/WYRB.”  “We’re confident that Tom will continue to empower, inform and entertain in a way that celebrates Black Radio.” Phil Rosenthal from the Chicago Tribune spoke to Tom about his Chicago return and the way he ultimately had to buy his way back onto the Chicago airwaves.

What? A ‘brokered deal’? You’re joking. You mean Tom’s not back because of the listener outrage? What about the protests, the marches and the sit ins?

This deal is brokered? No way. There’s so much I could say….but I won’t. Lawdhammercy….
