Public Radio is not immune to the rash of layoffs and cutbacks affecting the industry. National Public Radio is laying off about 7% of its staff, and is cancelling two shows, “Day To Day” and “News and Notes.” The two cancelled shows were produced at NPR’s Culver City, CA studios where 30 jobs will be lost but the facility will remain open. The total number of layoffs number about 64 and are expected to offset a $23 million shortfall in the current fiscal year. For more on the cutbacks and what seems to be a disproportionate number of minority staffers and programs affected by them click here.
