Wendy and Mo’Nique OUT in LA

11 November 2008 609 views 3 Comments

KDAY-FM  Los Angeles began dismantling it’s mostly syndicated weekday lineup by dropping Syndication One’s “The Mo’Nique Show” last month. This week the proverbial other shoe dropped as the Westwood One syndicated “The Wendy Williams Experience” was also removed from KDAY. Newly signed station consultant Steve Smith has moved the station in a music-intensive direction, but kept “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” and “The Michael Baisden Show” to anchor morning and afternoon drive. KDAY market manager/GM Karla Santos says about the changes, “We needed to get back to serving the needs of our listeners, and the fastest way to do that was a music intensive format.” Obviously this is terrible news for Syndication One and Westwood One as both lose marquee shows in the nations largest radio market and as Westwood stock prices drop to an astounding 15 cents a share.

I am really tring to understand the reason for dropping both Mo’Nique and Wendy williams talk shows. It appears that all of the men talk show hosts are still going strong. Is this a case of sexism? Is Steve Smith Gay? Does Steve Smith hate women? I am deeply saddened by this decision. I guess Oprah was right to own her own show therefore she doesn’t have to have her fate decided by an insensitive uncaring man who doesn’t have his entire listening audience in mind. It’s apparent he just doesn’t care!
Just remember Mr. Steve Smith what you do to others always comes back to you!!!!

I miss Monique show. I like listening to DJ Lonny C’s old school traffic jamm that they brought back, but i miss Monique’s hearty laughter. I enjoyed bathroom talk with her heartthrob Sidney, very articulate and intelligent man.
Monique baby, the sky is your limit, a bigger door will soon open. KEEP THE FAITH.

I am glad they cancelled the Monique show. I felt everytime I wanted to listen to music, she was on the air talking too much. It’s suppose to be radio/music. If I wanted to listen to talking all day. I would turn on he television.
    Monique talked too dang much.
