In a true old media/new media collaboration Premiere Radio Networks is launching a 3 hour weekend show called “The iTunes Download”. Based in Premieres Los Angeles studios and hosted by iTunes director of music programming Alex Luke, the show will countdown the 30 most downloaded songs in America. Luke will also interview high-profile music artists, and feature a “celebrity
playlist” compiled by various entertainers, and iMixes, which are playlists created by listeners in the iTunes Store. The idea that radio is still the place where music is first heard combined with the increased strength of the iTunes brand as the place where consumers go to buy it, prompted the deal and it won’t be the last.
